Busy Spring - Faith

Hey! How are you? My spring has become a busy one, and sometimes hard one, but is has become a good time to grow. I’ve had many challenges to face, but in all of that, my faith has been tested and strengthened. Reading through Genesis 12:1-9, I was reminded of Abraham’s calling and his enormous faith. Here was a guy who was married, and while they must have tried for a family and a family heritage, they were childless. God simply said to Abraham, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land I will show you.” (Gen. 12:1, NLT). Abraham and his wife Sarai were to leave everything they knew to follow his leading, without giving them an exact plan. Knowing my stubbornness, I would have challenged that. But Abraham and Sarai obeyed, left everything behind, and started their journey. God also told them, “I will make you into a great nation.” (Gen. 12:2). I wonder what Abraham and Sarai’s first response was. My response would have been, “WHAT?! We’re old and it’s been impossible for us to have a family! Be serious...” God continued with, “I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” (Gen. 12:3). Wow. Not only were they going to prosper as a family, they were going to change the world with their blessings. By faith – pure, solid, faith – Abraham and Sarai obeyed, and because of their obedience to God, and their faith and trust in God’s plan, they prospered. Where is your faith? Do you believe that God has your back? Despite where you are in your life, God is looking after you. “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24, NLT). Once you’ve decided that you need God’s help, go to him and say, “God, I admit my lack of faith - Forgive me of that. I don’t understand where I am, but trust you. Give me your strength, guidance, patience, and peace. Carry me, because I’m too weak to do it alone. Thank you for being my God, but also my guide. Amen.” All the best, and I look forward again to hearing from you
