Waiting for God's Timing

Hey friends! It has been a long few months, full of challenges I would have rather done without. However, God had other plans for me - plans for rest, renewal, and personal growth. As much as I love to play piano and sing, my music life needed to be put on hold for a while. After a long, two-year process of searching for healing from pain in my jaw (facial/head/jaw/neck/shoulder pain), the battle continued. In mid-August, I was professionally advised to pause my rehearsing and performing. I missed it. A lot. Here is some of what I have learned over this past summer – Just because God calls us to a specific mission, regarding our talents and gifts, it does not mean that his promise will be fulfilled TODAY. Noah was called by God to build a boat to save his family. He obeyed God – he spent years building the ark, brought in his family and two of every kind of animal, then he waited 7 days for rain. Abraham, although he and wife Sarah were unable to conceive, was called by God to be “A father of many nations”. He obeyed God – he took his wife Sarah, by faith followed God’s leading, and then he waited. Moses was called to lead the Israelites out of slavery, then he waited for God’s step-by-step instructions. Rahab, the prostitute, was told she and her family would be spared by Joshua and the Israelites. She lived by faith and obedience as she stayed in her home, and waited… (Hebrews 11). On April 27, 2012, while sitting in an over-sized chair in a Starbucks, I heard God tell me, “I’m going to use you, Rhonda”. I’ve been waiting since. In the meantime, I’ve learned obedience and trust. I’ve learned that God knows better, and my faith and trust needed to be strengthened. “’For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” (Isaiah 55:8-9) “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1) Now, while I am not fully healed, my health is improving! With my health professional’s permission and care, I’m happy to say that I will be slowly become more involved in my music ministry. I will accept opportunities for worship leading/performing/sharing as I am professionally advised, and as my body allows. Please pray for wisdom, continued healing and strength, and for strength in my voice and hands as I ease back into my music ministry work. I am excited to have been asked to lead worship singing for Shine FM/AM 700 The Light’s Pastor’s Breakfast on Wednesday, October 14th. Please pray for physical strength and emotional clarity as I lead. Thank you, “Mountain Mike” and friends at 88.9 Shine FM for your invitation – I look forward to seeing you! Please pray for me, for wisdom and guidance, and courage in obedience. Pray for my family and I for continued healing. Pray for God’s provision, to support the music ministry He has given to me. Thank you for your continued support. Keep going
